LLC Risoil Kherson intends to assign $15M to modernise the Kherson sea port infrastructure, as declared by the co-owner of Risoil S.A. holding company Shota Khajishvili.

“We are going to double the port’s cargo turnover in the next 5 years enabling us to triple discharges to the state budget. We have undertaken to invest $15M in the port’s infrastructure. These investments are to upgrade the existing storage facilities, purchase new machinery, and automatize the processes. Simultaneously, we are planning to develop, in close cooperation with the local authorities, processing capacities enabling to launch production of soya beans, bran, etc.”, said Mr Khajishvili on Friday in the course of presentation of the first investment tenders winners in the ports of Ukraine.

As the co-owner of Risoil, along with modernisation of the handling facilities the company intends to acquire tonnage of its own in the short run and turn Kherson into a river hub.

“Our task is complex and simple at the same time: we want to provide at the earliest possible juncture the port’s technical retrofitting. The river’s problem is that the tonnage gets loaded too slowly. While the tonnage lying in ports doesn’t earn – it’s the one which carries that brings money. Consequently, Kherson ought to become a modern port in the immediate future. We are going to master any possible shipping opportunities at the river, including purchase and construction of additional modern vessels”, he noted.

“On the grounds of these targets, we have arranged the design and come to the state with our best proposals. We have suggested the tenfold increase of the concession fee, we have offered the contribution in local budget twice as required. Notwithstanding that, we remain socially accountable and will keep the personnel and the port’s labour force, since it’s impossible to achieve anything without a team”, totaled up Shota Khajishvili.

Let’s remind you that LLC Risoil Kherson was announced the winner of Kherson sea port public assets concession tender. It is a consortium of LLC Petro Oil and Chemicals (Georgian Industrial Group), and Risoil S.A. (Switzerland), with the ratio 60%-40%.
