Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has taken at its session on Wednesday 06 May the decision to recover the state border checkpoint work for maritime connection in Skadovsk Sea Trade Port, previously closed temporarily due to the pandemic, as reported by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine Press Office.
“It was only yesterday that I together with Vice Prime Minister Oleksii Reznikov visited Kherson Region on a general working trip, in the course of which we called at Skadovsk Sea Trade Port among others. There is already the decision now, and this decision is unanimous. The border crossing point for the maritime traffic in Skadovsk is renewing its work”, stated Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii.
Nowadays Skadovsk Port is indicated as the only Ukrainian port to stay idle in respect of the sea sector of international cargo transhipment. Its recovery is of ultimate importance for the throughput increase and meeting the ongoing demand. “The technological peculiarities of cargo handling and clearance in the sea ports of Ukraine stipulate no close contact between people, so it’s only reasonable to re-establish this activity”, Mr Kryklii stressed upon.
The sea port of Skadovsk is planned for privatisation, so its management is in the process of transfer from Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority to State Property Fund of Ukraine.
