The state enterprise Ukrainian sea ports authority (USPA) has displayed at Shanghai’s imported goods and services exhibition China International Import Expo (CIIE) public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the ports sector of Ukraine, reported by USPA Press Office.

“China is the world’s largest country and most wanted trade partner for any state. Presenting investment projects at CIIE was a great opportunity for USPA to demonstrate Ukraine’s transit potential for our ports’ inclusion into the New Silk Road routes. Moreover, ports investment projects might be attractive for the Chinese business which had already invested above $7Bn in Ukraine”, noted Acting Chairman of USPA Raiis Veckagans.

USPA manager presented for potential investors at the Ukrainian stand the opportunities of PPP in Ukrainian port sector, in particular concession pilot projects in the ports Olvia and Kherson, as well as the planned concession projects for public stevedores in the ports Yuzhny and Chornomorsk.

Mr Veckagans took part as well in the world’s shipping key event i.e. the 14th World Shipping Summit. USPA manager’s business schedule in Shanghai and Beijing also involves a lot of meetings with management of major Chinese companies realising or financing scaly projects on transport infrastructure development all over the world. Representatives of those companies had already visited Ukraine this year and had possibilities to inspect Odessa and Chornomorsk ports activities in person.

The exhibition CIIE was set till 10 November. The event was participated by companies from 172 countries.

As per the data by Ministry of Economical Development and Trade of Ukraine, in 2017 the goods turnover between Ukraine and China enlarged by 17.9% and amounted to $7.69Bn.
