USPA Announces Tender for Mariupol and Berdyansk Dredging

The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) has invited bidders to submit their offers for the dredging works at two Azov Sea ports.

The dredging program, worth $17.8 million, will be carried out in the Mariupol Port in eastern Donetsk region and the Port of Berdyansk, located in southern Zaporozhe region, USPA said in their announcement.

The planned volume of the dredging operations in both ports is 2.9 million cubic meters and the project is set to be completed within eight months after the start.

Rayvis Veckagans, head of the USPA, said: “I strongly invite dredging companies to take part in this tender and I hope for its success. The project would have an impact on the functioning of our two ports and on the overall cargo logistics in the Azov basin.”

“Azov ports require the urgent dredging. In this water area, there is a more intensive flooding than, for example, in the ports of Bolshaya Odessa, and this calls for a regular operational dredging.”

Earlier this year, the Ukrainian government launched a major renewal of the country’s port infrastructure to boost the logistic capacities of Ukraine.
