Let’s remind that earlier Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan informed that the concession had been defined as more appropriate option for the state-owned stevedoring companies than privatization.
At the same time, Acting Head of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority Raivis Veckagans spoke in favour of privatization of state-owned stevedores. This, according to him, would help attract investments, keep the jobs and make those companies work more efficient.
As it came known, early in last July Government approved the state enterprises management concept (Triage) proposed by MEDT, that provides for the state to keep of 3,444 public companies and object only 15 utterly important enterprises and 363 objects securing the state’s functions performance, while the rest to be concessioned, sold or terminated. That was one of the terms cooperation program with International Monetary Fund.
