Risoil S.A. (Switzerland) is implementing two pilot projects on dry bulk cargo transhipment utilising storage, loading and lab facilities of the state enterprise (SE) Kherson Sea Trade Port (KSTP) upon the start of public stevedore’s assets concession preparation, as reports the Press Office of Risoil.
“Kherson is an export hub for the grain and oilseed processing by-products, such as wheat bran, soybean meal, sunflower and soybean husks, etc. It is conditioned by too hard competition of deep-sea ports as regards the grain trade (wheat, corn, barley) comprising the lion share of Ukraine’s agriproduct exports. So the by-products of processing fit more to Kherson, concerning the logistics”, the report says.
Taking into account peculiarities of trade from Kherson ports and the plans set up for the forthcoming season, this spring two pilot projects of dry bulk forage and food cargoes handling have been launched using different modes of accumulation and loading.
“The food-grade wheat was accumulated in silos by the berths with its further loading directly onboard a vessel via the bunker belt. A combo shipment of sunflower meal and soybean husks was accumulated in sheltered storages and further loaded onboard by cranes. This enabled the company to assess the public stevedore’s potential and get acquainted to the region’s farming businesses, milling and fat-and-oil enterprises, as well as to set plans for the season to come”, the Press Office noted.
The company is arriving at the new season with hoarded stocks of barley and wheat. The works go on with sunflower meal and wheat bran. It is planned to process soybeans, corn, and other grains and oilseeds as well as by-products from September. There are contracts already signed on grain and forage supplies to Turkey, Italy, and Egypt, and negotiations conducted on long-term cooperation with a number of large companies – ultimate consumers in the Mediterranean.
In January 2020 LLC Risoil Kherson won the concession tender on SE KSTP assets along with the corresponding assets of SE Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) in Kherson Port. Their undertaking envisages a high concession variable rate (7%), and the fixed concession fee of 12M UAH along with the investment liabilities of almost 300M UAH.
Moreover, atop of handling capacities upgrading, the company intends to acquire shortly some fleet of its own and turn Kherson Port into a river hub.
LLC Risoil Kherson is a consortium of LLC Petro Oil and Chemicals (Georgian Industrial Group – 60% share), and Risoil S.A. (Switzerland – 40%).
