China Harbour Engineering Сompany (CHEC) as of 1 May 2018 removed 1.482M cu. m of dredged material in the framework of the project ‘Reconstruction of Sea Access Canal and Inland Water Approaches to Deepwater Quays of Yuzhny Port’.
According to the port administration’s press office, dredging operations within the project’s framework are completed by 54.5 %. Moreover, the company is 37 % ahead of the planned schedule.
In May 2017 Yuzhny Port administration and CHEC signed two contracts on dredging works in the course of the projects ‘Reconstruction of Inland Water Approaches, Maneuver Zones, and Operational Water Areas at Berths with Account of Sea Port Yuzhny Prospective Cargo Turnover’, and ‘Reconstruction of Sea Access Canal and Inland Water Approaches to Deepwater Quays of Yuzhny Port’.
Within the first contract CHEC enlarged the access canal’s depth from 16 to 19 m and created the operational water area 16 m deep at Berths 23-25. The company completed its works ahead of the schedule in December 2017. The project’s cost amounted to 1,065Bn UAH. The project’s realization is going to ensure functioning of the grain terminal of a global raw material trader Cargill and MV Cargo company.
As per the second contract, CHEC performs dredging of the sea access canal and operational water area of Berths 5-6 of the Port of Yuzhny from 19 to 21 m, realizing two launching complexes. The project’s cost is 586.045M UAH.
In April 2018 the administration of Yuzhny Port and CHEC signed two contracts on dredging in the port of Chornomorsk. One contract provides for the works on the sea access canal enlarging its depth to 16 m, another one – in the first basin harbourage of Sukhoi Liman enlarging its depth to 15 m.
