On 6 July the m/t Wisdom Venture under Hong Kong flag was berthed at the quay No. 2H of Odessa Port oil harbour to deliver 75,000 t of crude from the USA.
Upon the quality indices checking the JC Ukrtransnafta has started transferring the first Bakken sort crude oil shipment from the USA into its pipeline for the further processing at Kremenchuk refinery.
The Chief Operator Office of Odessa Port reported the m/t Wisdom Venture was piloted into the harbour by the port public stevedore’s tugs Bulat and Patriot, her discharging into the shore reservoirs might take 36 hours. The tanker’s handling is provided in strict compliance with the certified technological schemes and all the requirements in respect of technological, fire and environmental safety.
“Our enterprise can boast huge experience of oil cargo operations”, comments Odessa Port authority manager Ihor Tkachuk. “There were times when the crude was going via the port in large volumes from Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as the Venezuelan oil for Mozyr refinery in Belarus. Now tankers come from time to time with the crude from Azerbaijan. The new cargo flow from the USA will enjoy high-quality servicing. The port’s oil handling area is a large universal terminal with the 25M t annual throughput capacity and equipped with facilities to handle practically any kind of petroleum cargo.”
The dedicated media observers focus on the fact that Wisdom Venture call in Odessa is marking the first in Ukraine’s history oil shipment delivery right from the USA. The next Bakken laden vessel may call Odessa as soon as August, the experts suggest.
Bakken formation is among the world biggest light petroleum fields with the proven reserves of 3.65Bn barrels partly embracing North Dakota and Montana states and Canadian provinces Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
