Fertilisers Terminal Construction in Batumi Port to Be Completed by Mid 2020

2 Июл

The investments in the 1.2M annual tons terminal construction are assessed as a little under 17.5M Euro.

By the next summer a new mineral fertilisers handling complex is going to start working in Batumi Port on the Black Sea coast of Georgia.
The project is partnered by the UK logistic company Wondernet Express and US chemical titan Trommo. The agreement on the establishment of JV to realise the project was signed this January.

According to the web site of Wondernet Express, at the initial phase the terminal will tranship the export production of GarabogazCarbamide plant in Turkmenistan.
The terminal is to reach the capacity of 1.2M t a year on account of almost 17.5M € invested. It will boast storage infrastructure for 60,000 of fertilisers. The multimodal complex will receive mineral fertilisers coming from Central Asia countries via the Caspian port of Baku, Azerbaijan, to be delivered to Batumi by rail. This corridor will become the shortest route to bring cargoes from Central Asia to the Black Sea.

The bulk cargo turnover in Batumi Port abruptly leapt last year after several years of fall, and almost reached the level of 2014 i.e. 1.2M t.
