Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (MIU) assesses the cost of realisation of the Transport Strategy of Ukraine till 2030 (Drive Ukraine 2030) as $60Bn, as informs Interfax-Ukraina.
“By our interim calculations, the total budget of this strategy realisation till 2030 is going to reach about 60Bn USD. More than a half of this number is expected from the Road Fund, Ukrzaliznytsia (State Railway) budget, Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, other agencies. The other part is planned to come as direct foreign investments, on account of the public-private partnership (PPP), concessions as well as loans”, declared Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian at the press conference in MIU on Monday.
As the minister mentioned, as for the outer investments, it is planned for the first turn to attract private foreign capital for establishing new jobs in the field of infrastructure.
Head of the EU Delegation in Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli in his turn stressed that on the EU part it is anticipated to draw in the European Investment Bank.
Mr Omelian reminded that the Transport Strategy 2030 paramount priority is creating competitive and efficient transport system in Ukraine, development of its innovative component and founding global investment projects.
In his turn, Mr Mingarelli noted that for the EU the main priority is expansion of the European transport network to Ukraine and provision of its interrelation with Ukrainian transport systems.
In May 2018 Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the country’s National Transport Strategy for the period till 2030 defining the sector’s development priorities. The document identifies foremost goals for the transport policies complex formation and efficacious piublic management. Its purpose is creating a safely operating and efficient transport complex of Ukraine integrated into the global transport network, meeting the population’s needs in transportation, and improvement of business environment to secure competitiveness and efficacy of the national economy.
