Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railway) plans to complete the electrification project for Dolinska – Mykolaiv – Kolosovka rail line in two years. This has been announced by the Acting Chairman of Board of the public JS Ievhen Kravtsov, according to Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
“As concerns the line Dolinska – Mykolaiv – Kolosovka, we plan to finish the electrification works within the nearest two years. The first phase is to be implemented as soon as in one and a half year”, said Kravtsov at the presentation of Kyiv – Boryspil rail line construction works on Tuesday.
According to the head of Ukrzaliznytsia, this is one of most large-scale electrification projects in Ukraine for the independence years.
In January 2018 Cabinet of Ministers approved the project ‘Reconstruction of the railway section Dolinska – Mykolaiv with the rise of throughput capacity for the direction Znamenka – Dolinska – Mykolaiv”. The reconstruction is to take 33 months. The total estimate cost is around 6Bn UAH.
In December 2017 Ukrzaliznytsia and EBRD signed a loan agreement on the electrification project for the range Dolinska – Mykolaiv – Kolosovka that provides for €150M credit funds under the state guarantees.
Another €150M of credit funds are anticipated by the financial agreement of Ukrzaliznytsia with EIB signed in December 2016 for the project “Ukrainian Railway (Infrastructure) Modernization”.
In the end of May 2018 President Petro Poroshenko signed a submission of the draft law to the parliament to ratify the agreement with EIB. He underlined the surge of investments into Ukraine’s economy, particularly in transport infrastructure, characterized by this agreement. The project’s realization, he continued, would enlarge both volume and speed of traffic as well as the throughput capacity of this line all in all, in order to facilitate the rail connection with Mykolaiv Region’s ports, to augment the ports’ load and raise the transit services quality.
