Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) introduced a new terminal of the Ukrainian-Lithuanian company Eurovneshtorg into the Sea Ports Register. Therefore, the grain terminal in Olvia port has become the first one officially registered by USPA in 2019.
According to USPA’s CEO Raivis Veckagans, a new terminal entering into the Sea Ports Register came a good start of the year.
The terminal of LLC Eurovneshtorg in the port of Olvia began to admit first ships in December 2018. It handled its first vessel (bulk carrier Berna, LoA 158 m, DWT 21,264, flag Cook Islands) loading 21,000 t of corn of Ukrainian manufacturers for Lebanon on 16 December. The company says they plan to transship 1M t of dry bulk cargoes in 2019.
The company’s project envisages building of a cargo accumulation complex for rail and road transport with further loading onboard sea-going vessels. Now the construction of four silos is complete, 6,500 t each, and a floor storage for 90,000 t enabling to simultaneously keep 116,000 t of grain. The construction’s first phase investments amount to 1.8Bn UAH in to-to. The annual grain handling is going to reach up to 4M t a year with the throughput capacity of 300 trucks and 200 rail cars per 24 hrs, after all the project’s phases realised. The venture is realised jointly with BT Invest Ltd.
“In 2019 we also anticipate complete implementation of several PPP port projects at a time. It embraces the grain terminal MV Cargo in Yuzhny Port launching into operation, dredging for which had been executed by USPA in the last year beginning, plus reconstruction and building of Berths 8 and 4 in the ports of Mykolaiv and Mariupol under completion, to realise investment projects on grain handling capacity development”, added Mr Veckagans.
As we noted earlier, Nika-Tera terminal (Mykolaiv, part of Group DF) in 2018 set its own handling record having processed 5.84M t of cargo in 12 months.
