Ukraine has managed to keep its 57th position in the infrastructure development part of Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) annually published by World Economic Forum (WEF).

In the general rating of economies competitiveness Ukraine has taken 85th position of the total 141, while in 2018 the place was 83rd.

The GCI infrastructure block includes both transport infrastructure, and electrification, water supply, as well as internet and mobile communications availability etc.

As for the particular parameter Transport Infrastructure, our country is 59th in 2019 while in 2018 this item wasn’t singled out.

The maritime transport index called Liner Shipping Connectivity shows Ukraine’s 57th place against 43rd in 2018, while the port infrastructure quality position is almost stable being 78th against the last year’s 77th.

Ukraine is 59th by its territory’s road connectivity, having been 51st last year.

The road infrastructure quality block finds Ukraine at 114th position boasting a leap above the previous number 123.

The railway network compactness has brought Ukraine 25th place i.e. two points down, though the railway services quality has boosted to the global 34 from 37 a year ago.

Back in 2018 Ukraine’s GCI position was at the mark of 83 while the previous year – 81.

Identifying competitiveness as a set of institutions, political measures and factors that determine a country’s productivity level, WEF calculates its rating basing on the combination of both generally available and its own specialised data by 12 dimensions – constituents of competitiveness which jointly represent comprehensive assessment of the economy’s competitiveness.
