Ukraine in 2019-2020 marketing year (MY, September 2019 — August 2020) enlarged the export of sunflower oil comparing to the MY 2018-2019 by 10.2% — up to the record of 6.684M t, as the industry’s association UkrOliyaProm data show. As per these data, the sunoil exports have risen in pecuniary numbers by 17% — up to $4.9Bn.
“By assessments of USDA, in 2020-2021 MY Ukraine will stay the world leader of sunflower oil exports”, reports the association. Also by its data, exports of soya bean oil amounted to 335,000 t, rape oil — 84,000 t. All in all there are 7.2M t of vegoils exported amounting to $5.28Bn.
According to the data of State Customs Service of Ukraine, the country has exported in 019 6.651M t of vegoils amounting to $4.652Bn, including 6.106M t of sunflower, safflower and cotton oil for $4.274Bn (this position’s share in the total list of exports embraced 8.4% as concerns the monetary value).
As per the customs’ statistics, Ukraine in 2018-19 MY enlarged the sunoil exports by 14% as compared with the previous MY 2017-2018 — up to 6.1M t.
Analyst APK-Inform this week said Ukrainian sunflower oil export prices had risen sharply this month supported by a possible decrease in the sunflower seed harvest and strong demand from importers. It said bid prices had risen by $70 to $90 per tonne in September to $945-950 per tonne FOB Black Sea as of Sept. 9.
The Ukrainian economy ministry last week said the 2020 sunseed production could fall by 8.5% to 14 million tonnes from 15.3 million tonnes in 2019.
The association said last week it could cut its outlook for the 2020 sunflower seed crop depending on weather conditions, but would maintain its forecast of 15 million tonnes for now.
Elevatorist.com has named the leaders of sunoil production in Ukraine for the past season. The top position is retained by Kernel with its hefty 27% share in the market, while Bunge Ukraine is enormously behind with its 11%.
