The new station would allow handling twofold volumes of the station Mykolaiv-Vantazhny

The industrial and investment group Smart Holding’s managing company Naval Park intends to erect a railway station in an industrial park based on the Chornomorsky Shipbuilding Plant, as announced by the company’s Vice Director Maksym Lozovsky. The new railway station is going to enable transhipping twice as many wagons as the acting now Mykolaiv-Vantazhny station – up to 10M t a year.

As per Vice Director, the industrial park’s territory will be divided into five clusters:

  • agro-industrial;
  • industrial;
  • logistic;
  • port;
  • comfort.

The creation of their own railway station enabling to work in both export and import regimes is a key issue in the park’s establishment.

“The existing station is squeezed by the city from two sides and it’s nowhere to develop. Further is Sortyrovochna station with the same situation. Both stations now work at the top of their limits, and the new cargo base emerging year by year in Ukraine is transported to Mykolaiv with trucks as it is more beneficial. Our station will allow the city enlarging the cargo flow while removing the road vehicles from its streets”, pointed out Mr Lozovsky.

At the moment Naval Park holds negotiations with representatives of national and international mail and transport companies with regard to placing their warehouses in the park’s territory.

Let’s remind you that the plans of establishing the industrial park in Mykolaiv came widely known in late January 2021. There is an intention to allot about 90% of the idling now industrial area of the shipyard Chornomorsky.

Let’s note that Ukraine has one of the smallest numbers of industrial parks in the world. As per statistics, there are 83 parks in Poland, and 200 in Germany, while the record 1,200 parks are in South Korea.

By the end of 2020 there were only 45 industrial parks registered in Ukraine, for 23 of them managing companies have been assigned.

In June 2020 there were two bills registered in the parliament aimed at stimulating of industrial parks development – №3724 and №3725. The draft laws envisage granting investment, tax, and customs privileges for park resident companies.
