Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (MIU) is considering the mechanism of syndicated (or consortium) crediting by Ukrainian banks as a source of financing the transport infrastructure, as declared by Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.

“In the immediate outlook we consider options of such funding not only for the road and bridge infrastructure, but also for airports, railways, maritime and inland water infrastructure etc.”, said Mr Kubrakov commenting the agreement signed with six Ukrainian banks on the common loan for Ukravtodor (Ukrainian Motor Roads State Agency).

As per his words, the main advantage of syndicated loan mechanism is that the state can quickly obtain the necessary amount of money, while the bank – real investment opportunities.

Last week Ukravtodor signed the agreement with a consortium of Ukrainian banks to get the credit of $376M under the 4.9% of annual interest with the security by state guarantees for 5 years.
