The company expects the hub admitting first trains as soon as the end of this year.
The company Lemtrans, a major private railcar operator of Ukraine, is investing about $15M in a railway logistic hub based on LLC Mostyska Dry Port (Lviv Region).
Upon completion of the project the region is going to receive over 50 jobs as well as to enrich its investment potential.
The project of a universal terminal will be implemented in the territory of the former petroleum depot near the railway station Mostyska-2 several kilometres from Ukrainian-Polish border.
After the consummation of construction cargo carriers and shippers will get an opportunity of quick transhipment of containers from the 1,520 mm track flatcars to 1,435 mm, and back.
This would allow the terminal Mostyska in future to become the basic transport hub between the regions Ukraine – Asia and European terminals network, as well as to attract some additional transit from China to Ukraine.
Lemtrans also expects considerable growth of demand for logistic and storage services after the hub opening.
“The acquisition of a share in the stock of Mostyska Dry Port will enable the company to expand its capabilities. The logistic hub in Mostyska is going to seamlessly blend in the business structure of our company thus complementing it. We are sure that such a venture can give an impetus to development of the entire railway cargo transportation industry of Ukraine”, Lemtrans DG Volodymyr Mezentsev clarified.
“There’s no that such an object may stimulate development of both the city and the whole region. As the hub is opened, the demand on logistic and storage services will substantially enlarge, which means more investments, more taxes paid and more jobs offered”, he summarised.
“Нет сомнений, что подобный объект может стимулировать развитие не только города, но и всего региона. После открытия хаба здесь существенно возрастет спрос на логистические и складские услуги. А это значит – дополнительные инвестиции, налоги и рабочие места” – подытожил он.
