IFC will help to structure PPP projects in the ports of Olvia and Kherson

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (MIU) reported that the International Finance Corporation (IFC, part of the World Bank Group) will help structure public-private partnership (PPP) projects in SE Olivia Stevedoring Company (Port Oktyabersk) and Kherson Sea Commercial Port,

The corresponding memorandum of understanding was signed by the ministry and IFC in Kiev on Tuesday, November 14.

IFC will also explore the possibility of structuring a PPP project for the development of a railway ferry complex at the SE “Sea Commercial Port” Chernomorsk.

As noted in the MIU, the signing of this memorandum was the first in Ukraine IFC consultative project on the development of PPP.

“IFC will help the ministry team to more effectively develop and manage PPP projects through specialized trainings and study tours IFC’s PPP experts will also assist the ministry in creating a broad legislative framework for the development of PPPs in Ukraine and preparing adapted for local conditions guidelines for the preparation of PPP projects, “the ministry said.

IFC points out that over the past decade its PPP consultants team mobilized nearly $ 17 billion in private infrastructure investment and helped governments improve basic services in sectors such as energy, transportation, health, water and sanitation.
