Grain Terminal of Louis Dreyfus in Odessa Port to Start Working in Summer 2019

A grain terminal of a global raw trader Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) will be put in operation in summer 2019, as reports Press Office of National Investment Council of Ukraine.

Last week President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met the LDC delegation headed by Chairman of the Board Margarita Louis-Dreyfus. The head of state marked the company’s over 20 years’ activities in Ukraine and expressed the hope LDC would boost up its investments into the country. “You trust, invest and promote Ukraine all over the world”, said Mr Poroshenko.

As Margarita Louis-Dreyfus noted, the last four years Ukraine has faced positive changes and the company perceives them in its work. The trader is planning to substantially enlarge investment in Ukraine the nearest years, she said.

Louis Dreyfus Company (HQ in Amsterdam, the Netherlands) focuses on agriproducts and fertilisers trade, and control about 10% of the world raw materials market, forming along with ADM, Bunge, and Cargill the so called ABCD – global top four agri-traders, being respectively D. In 2017 Louis Dreyfus raised the earning compared to 2016 by 6% i.e. up to $43Bn, and net profit – by 4%, up to $317M.

In Ukraine Louis Dreyfus Company works since 1998 and is a major agriproduct exporter from the country delivering some 4M annual t of grain to outer markets.

Since 2012 LDC and LLC Brooklyn-Kiev jointly realise an investment business casein Odessa port erecting a new grain transhipment complex with the annual throughput capacity of 4.5M t. The venture’s total cost amounts to $100M.
