The train is going to cross the state border via Erenhot checkpoint in northern China and come to Kyiv in mid-September.
A freight train has left the Chinese city of Chongqing bound to Kyiv with 50 containers of industrial equipment. This is the first direct railway route for cargo traffic between the two cities.
As per the schedule, the train is going to cross the border at Erenhot of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north of China, and reach Kyiv in the middle of this month.
It is noted that before the export cargo shipments from Chongqing to Ukraine had to go via Belarus or Poland territory.
“The new railway itinersary ensuring direct deliveries from Chongqing to Kyiv will promote trade connections between the west of China and Europe”, the official report says.
Chongqing is one of the key points of rail traffic in the China – Europe range. According to the local authorities, for the first half of 2021 there were 1,359 cargo trains, i.e. by 50% more than last year, launched by the Yuxinou (Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe) railway which is the first leg of China – Europe freight trains.
