China Importing Ukrainian Agro Products for $2,4Bn in First Half Year

The bilateral agriproduct trade between Ukraine and China has enlarged in January – June 2020 in the pecuniary aspect by 71% comparing to the similar period of 2019, i.e. up to $2.7Bn. This is certified by the data of China’s General Customs Administration as voiced at the sixth meeting of Ukrainian-Chinese sub-commission on trade and economic cooperation of Commission on Cooperation between Government of Ukraine and Government of People’s Republic China.

As the sub-commission’s Co-Chairman Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Trade Representative of PRC Yu Jianhua informed, the export of Ukrainian agriproducts to China has comprised $2.4Bn, the main positions being taken by corn, sunflower cake and sunoil. The Chinese official has also underlined that PRC is interested in complex development of the soya bean export from Ukraine into China.

As the Press Office of State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine has reported, in the course of the sixth meeting the sub-commission had the aspects of collaboration concerning anti-coronavirus measures discussed, as well as the program of joint creation of Economic Belt of the Silk Road, and prospects of bilateral trade liberalisation and increase of the bilateral goods turnover numbers, etc.

“During the consideration of bilateral goods turnover it was agriproducts trade the sub-commission leaders both on Ukrainian and Chinese side have drawn much attention to”, the Press Office stressed.

According to State Customs Service of Ukraine, the corn exports to China amounted in January-June 2020 to $656.3M i.e. 20.9% of the total trade goods position in money value, and that of sunoil — $378.7M (13.8%).
