Ukrainian sea ports Berdiansk and Mariupol can count on support by the EU with regard to aggressive actions of the RF in the Azov Sea.

The EU’s priority in Ukraine will be the infrastructure in the Azov Region, in particular, sea trade ports Mariupol and Berdiansk, report the media from Ukrainian Ports Forum 2019 being held now in Odessa.

“There are 39 infrastructure projects well known to be included by European Commission into the indicative plan of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) construction. The four out of those 39 are specific for the marine industry, dealing immediately with it.

And on top of it, if we remember about the escalation around the Sea of Azov, of course the ports of Mariupol and Berdiansk are in the focus of our concern”, declared the EU Delegation’s in Ukraine representative Stefan Schleuning.

“We had a mission in the Azov region with Mr Mingarelli with the purpose of specifically inspecting the region’s needs, analysing them. We’d like to launch also a specific project to examine the demands of Berdiansk Port”, added Mr Schleuning reminding that the total amount of potential investments in Ukraine’s integration into the TEN-T embraces 4.5Bn EUR.
