A loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on attracting € 50 million to develop the transport infrastructure of the Dnieper River is at the final stage. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Viktor Dovgan during the III Ukrainian Infrastructure Forum in Kiev on Thursday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“This year we started the repair of locks for EU funds. This need to continue, because nothing has been done for 25 years. Also do the dredging. Thus, 20 million will go to repair locks and 30 million will remain for dredging and development of hydraulic structures on the Dnieper, “said Dovgan.

The Ministry of Infrastructure planned to sign a loan agreement with the EIB and the EBRD on attracting a € 50 million loan for the development of the transport infrastructure of the Dnieper River in September 2018.

According to the Ministry, after the modernization of the transport infrastructure of the Dnieper River, the functioning of the river infrastructure is planned to be provided at the expense of funds received after the introduction of a specialized river tax, which is provided for in draft law No. 2475a “On inland water transport”.
