GIG is one of major industrial groups of Georgia. Its main dedication is the energy business. It owns and operates fuel and hydro power plants with installed generating capacity of 662MWt. The group also deals with commercial real estate, manufacturing of metals and construction materials.

The call for bids in respect of the SE SC Olvia assets concession tender was launched on 18 October 2019, and on 08 October – ditto for SE Kherson Sea Trade Port. Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (MIU) had announced the bidding on SE SC Olvia and the same on SE Kherson STP on 12 September.

These public stevedores are the port sector concession pilot projects’ implementation sites. Both pilot projects were approved by MIU on 23 June 2016. The projects’ feasibility studies (FS) were developed by the consortium of international consultants established by EBRD and IFC including Castalia, EY, MTBS Ukraine and others. The FS embraced a system analysis of the market and financial, technical, environmental, and legal expert evaluations.

The concessions of Olvia and Kherson state enterprises have raised concern of more than 40 companies from 12 countries.
