10 Апр

The state enterprise (SE) Ukrainian sea ports authority (USPA) and Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine jointly with State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPFU) initiate realisation of private business development projects in the port of Skadovsk.

The matter is in renewing efficient use of berths and land plots of small ports and port stations on conditions of mutually beneficial lease of quays.

On the web site of SPFU there are 5 berths in Skadovsk port and Khorly port station offered for lease. They can be employed for servicing both cargo and passenger ships. Furthermore potential lease object are yards of SE Skadovsk Sea Trade Port (SSTP) that being combined with the quays of Skadovsk Branch of USPA make up prospective areas for the port development.

Skadovsk port possesses every precondition for realisation of investment projects by both Ukrainian and foreign companies, as believes USPA. The port has positive experience of cooperation with Turkish partners in the sphere of export-import operations. Besides, Skadovsk is an actual alternative to the closed ports of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The port is situated in the district of advanced agriculture and vast reserves of high-quality sand. In the past only Khorly port station of the port secured alone some 4M t of sand’s annual handling. The port’s berths are fit to store cargoes, provide export-import operations, and according to the design feature can admit Ro-Ro vessels. Say, in the rear of Berth 1 there are storage yards of SE SSTP totaling over 7,400 m2, and in the rear of Berth 2 – road trucks parking lots destined for export and import, totaling over 25,000 m2.

Apart from cargo handling, Skadovsk port can be used to promote passenger traffic in the range Mykolaiv – Ochakiv – Kinburn – Skadovsk. The sea-going route may come and interesting alternative to the bus and car connection. This range can be used as well to promote tourist routes in Dzharylhach National Nature Park and the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve.

The lease of berths envisages attractive payment conditions provided the investor has funded their repairs. More details regarding lease of Skadovsk port berths are published at the SPFU official site.

USPA is also ready to render thorough information to any would-be seekers of berths lease as concerns their associate infrastructure, technical conditions and peculiarities, extent of refurbishment and reconstruction required to fully renew their functioning.

In 2018 the handling numbers of Skadovsk shrank 2.5 times, while in 2017 it lost one third of its throughput. The main problem concerns the depths which fail to correspond to the designed ones because of the timely dredging works missing.
