Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (CMU) at its meeting on 06 February 2019 has approved the nominees for Supervisory Board of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA).
Now the four independent members of the USPA SB have been appointed Wolfgang Hurtienne (Germany), Jan Van Shoonhoven (the Netherlands), Patrick Verhoeven (Belgium), and Yulia Klimenko (Ukraine). The state we be represented by the newly appointed Board Members Dmytro Barinov (Marine Administration), Anton Yashchenko (CMU Reforms Office), and Taras Trotskii (Ministry of Infrastructure).
The tender winners were presented to the Government meeting by Minister of CMU Oleksandr Saienko being a member of Committee on Appointments of CEO and SB members for the particularly important for Ukraine’s economy enterprises.
“Shaping of the Supervisory Board is a vital step towards implementation of the corporative management system in the public sector. It is very important for USPA that the SB is participated by professionals with good comprehension of the world port industry operation peculiarities, experts possessing rich experience of interacting with IFIs, as well as implementation of changes on a national level. I am sure that existence of such a professional collegiate body is going to promote rising of our activities efficiency and transparency, moving Ukrainian port sector closer to best global standards, and further integration of Ukraine into the EU. This will aslo enable to collaborate on a qualitatively different level with the state, national and foreign partners – investors, financial institutions, and other port industry stakeholders. Supervisory Board is a true ‘window of opportunity’ all of us should take advantage of in order to develop the sea ports of Ukraine. Upon completion of the appointment formalities SB of USPA will gather for its first session.
