Kernel to Launch Second Terminal in Chornomorsk

An agro-industrial holding Kernel intends to put in operation in January 2019 a new grain terminal’s first phase in Chornomorsk. This is indicated in the company’s financial report for the first quarter of 2019 (FY July 2018 – June 2019).

“In January 2019 we expect launching our new grain terminal first phase in Chornomorsk that is going to enlarge the throughput capacity by 1M t. The complex’s complete introduction is planned for autumn 2019, after which the total capacity will increase by 3M to enable us boosting our assets’ total annual throughput in Chornomorsk port up to 8M t”, says the report.

According to the document, the company enlarged the grain export forecast showing for 2019 FY from 5.4 to 6.2M t.

LLC TransGrainTerminal (part of Kernel) carries out construction of a new grain terminal in Chornomorsk port of annual 4M t capacity.

European Investment Bank may grant Kernel long-term funding of up to $250M to cover its capex for 2019 FY. The new grain terminal in Chornomorsk is among the objects of funding. The project is on the stage of assessment.

In April 2017 SE Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) and Kernel signed a memorandum of cooperation in the course of which USPA undertook to increase depths of the Sukhoi Liman 1st basin operational water area, and those at Berths 14-17 as well as the port’s access channel, while Kernel is obliged to enlarge its handling in the port from 3 to 7M t by the second half year 2019.

Kernel is a global major manufacturer and exporter of sunflower seed oil, leading in production and delivery of agricultural goods from the Black Sea region to world markets.
