The terminal of a global raw trader Cargill and the local company MVCargo conducts trial loading of its silos, as informed the co-owner of MVCargo Andrey Stavnitser.

“MVCargo started shrinkage of the silos, and this is not just pour it and let alone. The silos are loaded phase by phase, some 5,000 t at a time, then a pause. We are going to load seven silos all in all by 15,000 t each” – wrote A. Stavnitser in his Facebook.

The trial load process will take a month and a half. “What is it for? To test the equipment’s and silos’ structures correct work, and come assured the terminal is ready for the launch in full”, – added Mr Stavnitser.

In late October the Cargill-MVCargo terminal’s floor storage for the first time received corn. “The storage is filled by half, yet in November the grain volume will reach the maximum i.e. 75,000 t. And as soon as by mid month the corn will be loaded onto the ship. Besides, the first grain is soon to be admitted by ‘drums’. Our silos are virtually completed and in the course of vertical storage first line trials the capacities will take 100,000 t of grain”, reported the company.

As of the second half of September, the grain terminal construction design was realised by 85%.

The terminal’s annual capacity comprises 5M t. The complex embraces 14 silos of 15,000 t each, and the floor storage of 80,000 t. The terminal is equipped with its own railway and motor road infrastructure. The trucks discharging yard is capable of 790 trucks per day, railcar discharging yard – of 256 cars a day. The total investments amount reaches $150M. The complex is going to secure transhipment of 10% of Ukraine’s produced grain products.

In August 2015 Cargill, MVCargo and Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) signed a tripartite memorandum of intention to implement the Yuzhny Port grain terminal construction investment project. According to the project, MVCargo is to carry out construction of the terminal’s land complex, USPA to provide creation of the navigable operational harbourage at Berth 25 and access canal thereto, also the memorandum fixed  Cargill’s intention of purchasing 51% of the terminal.
