Minister Omelian Meeting Hutchison Ports Management

Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian in the course of his business trip to the UK met on Tuesday managers of Hutchison Ports, Greenbrier, Morgan Stanley, Citi Bank, and other companies. This has been reported by the ministry’s Press Office.
According to the release, the parties discussed on prospects of overseas investments attraction into Ukrainian infrastructure projects in the sphere of maritime, railway and air traffic.
“We can boast a good level of dialogue with the world business, and as well have started collaboration with leading companies in the rail and air transport branches. Ukraine is and will be open for the world business. We are going to implement European integration legislation and the law to develop public-private partnership”, underlined Mr Omelian.
In July 2018 Hutchison Ports registered a daughter company in Ukraine. As per Integral State Register of Legal Entities, Natural Persons-Entrepreneurs and Social Formations, the charter capital of Hutchison Ports Ukraine counts 700,000 UAH – 7,000 of which were contributed by Hutchison Ports Netherlands, and 693,000 – by Hutchison Ports Turkey.
State Property Fund of Ukraine intends to provide a tender on the lease of Berths 1-6 of SE STP Chornomorsk. It had been expected earlier, that the tender on lease of Berths 1-6 and assets at their rear yards would take place in May 2018. In December 2017 MIU agreed upon HP’s corresponding request, and the latter applied to the regional SPFU office in Odessa. Then Omelian announced that as soon as the new Law on Concessions is adopted, the operator would be ready to consider transition of the lease agreement to this pattern.
In 2016 Hutchison Ports and the state enterprise (SE) Sea Trade Port Chornomorsk concluded a Memorandum of Understanding. The paper was signed during Minister’s visit in the UK.
Hutchison Ports (HQ based in Hong Kong) is one of the biggest global sea terminal operators as concerns the total box throughput. It is a daughter company of Hutchison Holdings Limited (registered in Cayman Islands), manages 52 terminals and ports in 26 countries on the six continents. In 2017 the company enlarged its container turnover by 4 %, i.e. up to 84.7M TEU comparing to 2016.
