New Grain Terminal Launched in Port Olvia

An investment company BT Invest and LLC Eurovneshtorg have completed the agricultural cargo handling terminal first phase construction in the specialised sea port Olvia.
According to the Press Office of the state enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), the terminal construction project was presented by BT Invest CEO Aivaras Karalius in the course of Ukrainian Ports Forum 2018 in Odessa in late May.
“As on today the first phase of construction under the project has been completed, namely four silos of 6,500 t each erected, and the floor storage facility construction is on its way”, informed the USPA Press Office.
Further on it reports that upon the construction’s completion the terminal’s annual capacity will amount to 4M t, the daily throughput – 300 trucks and 200 railcars. Launching the terminal will enable to establish some 200 jobs. “The project is open for investors and partners”, stressed the Press Office.
BT Invest was founded in 2008 by former shareholders of Sandora company Raimondas Tumenas and now late Igor Bezzub. The company owns the network of supermarkets Novus, a holding Stolitsa Group, which realises real estate projects in Kyiv and the region and is an investment partner of the capital’s trade-entertainment centre Retroville construction. It also owns the business centre Pirklių klubas in Vilnius.
As per the information from the web site of BT Invest, “for the moment the company jointly with partners in Ukraine implements the new infrastructure project — a sea port in the city of Mykolaiv”.
In July 2017 Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine entitled the investment company BT Invest to acquire joint control over the agricultural company Crousman Constructions Limited (Cyprus). This company intends to render grain elevator services in Mykolaiv Region.
LLC Eurovneshtorg started the grain terminal building works in Olvia Port in 2017. The investor plans to launch by the end of 2018 the access channel built on their own account, and a quay 280 m long with 12.5 m depths.
In September 2017 Council of Olvia Port accepted a representative of LLC Sergey Gunko in its staff. Besides, some changes in the port’s development plan were inserted with account of the Eurovneshtorg’s terminal erection.
The specialised sea port Olvia is situated 25 km from Mykolaiv on the left bank of the Dnieper-Bug Liman, it embraces 7 cargo berths with 1.53 km waterfront. The only port operator is the state enterprise Stevedoring Company Olvia. The SE members the list of companies serving base for concession pilot projects.
The port Olvia in 2017 enlarged its throughput as compared to that of 2016 by 5.2% — up to 6.88M t. The port’s share in the entire Ukraine’s sea ports throughput amounted to 5.2% against 5% in 2016.
