The competition for the rental of property in the yard area of berths No. 1-6 and the lease of berths No. 1-6 of the SE “Sea Commercial Port Chernomorsk” will take place in May 2018. According to the report, the issues related to the entrance of Hutchison Ports to the port of Chernomorsk was discussed at the meeting with the head of Odessa Regional State Administration Maxim Stepanov and company representatives on Thursday. “We are very interested in the increase in the volume of transshipment of containers in the ports of the Odessa region. When large operators enter the port, these are new technologies and standards. I also like that you are planning to create new jobs for the residents of the region. And we in the State Administration are ready to fully promote the company as soon as possible it enters the Odessa region. We are ready to provide Hutchison Ports with the maximum possible support in all issues without exception,” – Stepanov said.
According to the representative of Hutchison Ports James Pettifer, the operator plans to increase its presence in the Black Sea in the near future and considers the partnership with the port of Chernomorsk. “We are counting on an increase in the cargo flow in” Chernomorsk “. We are fully open to cooperation with local businesses, and also look forward to working closely with port operators, customs and other services,” – he said.
In December 2017, the Ministry of Infrastructure agreed on the application of Hutchison Ports for the lease of the territory in the area of berths No. 1-6 of the State Enterprise “MTP” Chernomorsk “. Hutchison Ports filed a request to the regional department of the State Property Fund of Ukraine in the Odessa region to lease the territory in the rear of berths No. 1-6 and rent berths No. 1-6 of the State Enterprise “MTP” Chernomorsk “in November 2017. “Hutchison has applied. But still there will be a competition for rent,” – said then the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan. The minister also said that after the adoption of the law on concessions, the operator is ready to consider the transition from a lease agreement to this model of cooperation.
