The Ukrainian Seaports Administration reports that in January-February 2018, the volume of cargo handling in the sea ports of Ukraine amounted to 20.5 million tons, which is 4.6% more compared to the same period in 2017

The press service of the USPA said that during the 2 months of 2018, Ukraine’s seaports all together processed 20.5 million tons of cargo. At the same time, transshipment of imported goods increased by 24.4% in comparison with the previous year and amounted to 3.5 million tons. Also, transshipment of imported coal – 1 million tons (+ 26.6%), import of ore cargo was 1 , 1 million tons (+ 8.7%), butter – 0.05 million tons (+ 89.2%). The decrease was observed in oil – 0.08 million tons (-1.8%) and oil products – 0.07 million tons (-23.5%).

Transshipment of export cargo amounted to 14,9 million tons, which is 3,4% less compared with 2017. An  increase in export volume of ferrous metals – to 2.8 million tons (+ 8%), while the grain handling fell slightly to 5.9 million tons (-1.3%). Transshipment of transit cargo amounted to 1.9 million tons, which is 54.1% more than in 2017.

In general, since January 2018, Ukraine’s seaports processed 1 thousand 850 ships, which is 469 units or 34% more than the same period in 2017.

Among the ports of the Odessa region, the highest rates of cargo handling demonstrated by the Seaports “Yuzhny” – 5 million 902.30 thousand tons (94.2% compared to last year’s figure), Odessa seaports – 3 million 666.39 thousand tons (88.3 %), Sea port “Chornomorsk” – 3 million 137.46 thousand tons (131%).
